Most apps hide their privacy policy, refund terms and FAQ behind tiny grey links. Till Note's are all on one page, written in plain language, and kept short enough to actually read.
The questions people ask in the first five minutes.
Yes. The app makes zero network calls for normal operation. You can verify this yourself by putting your phone in airplane mode — every feature works. The only time the app touches the network is when you actively tap Share to send a PDF, and that goes through your phone's standard share sheet (email, WhatsApp, AirDrop) — Till Note itself never uploads anything to a server we run, because we don't run one.
Small shop owners, market traders, café operators, hairdressers, takeaways, MOT garages, anyone running a one-or-two-location business who closes the till at the end of the day and writes the numbers somewhere. If "QuickBooks subscription" feels like overkill for what you do, Till Note is built for you.
No — and that's deliberate. Till Note keeps clean books and exports a tidy pack for your accountant when it's time. Your accountant still files the returns. Most users tell us their accountant prefers Till Note's exports to the messy CSVs they used to get.
Unlimited. Whichever plan you choose covers all the shops you run. Switch between them with the shop selector at the top of every screen.
Yes, fully. Till Note was designed for unstable rural mobile signal, basements, festivals, and pop-up markets. The whole feature set works without a single bar of signal.
On your phone. Specifically, in your phone's sandboxed application storage — the protected, app-private area that iOS and Android isolate from other apps. We hold no copy. For sensitive items you can add a PIN, and backups can be password-protected with strong encryption when you set a backup password.
If you've been using the built-in Backup & Restore feature to save backups somewhere safe (your phone's share sheet lets you save to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, a USB stick, or wherever you choose), you restore from there onto your new phone. If you haven't, the data is gone — same as losing a paper ledger. We recommend backing up weekly.
No. We don't run analytics. We don't know how many times you opened the app, which screens you visited, or which features you use. If the App Store shows us aggregate download numbers that's literally all we know about our users.
Till Note has a Private Vault module inside the app — a PIN-locked space for things you don't want staff to see if they borrow the phone. The main PIN locks the whole app; the Vault PIN is separate.
Till Note downloads for free and starts with a 14-day free trial — every feature unlocked, no charge during the trial. After the trial you keep going with a monthly plan (£4.99/month), a yearly plan (£39.99/year), or a lifetime purchase (£99 one-time). Local prices in your currency may vary and are shown by the App Store or Google Play before you confirm. All charges, renewals and cancellations are handled by Apple or Google — Till Note doesn't take payments directly.
Payments are processed by Apple or Google. Refund requests are handled according to the refund process of the store where the purchase was made — the App Store for iOS purchases, Google Play for Android. For general billing questions we can help you find the right form, email support@tillnote.com.
The app keeps working — it doesn't need our servers because there aren't any. Your data stays on your phone. We'd commit to making the source code available if we ever shut down, so the app can be maintained independently.
Both. iOS 15+ and Android 10+. If you have both an iOS and an Android device, a subscription bought on one platform doesn't automatically unlock the other — each store manages its own purchase. A Lifetime purchase behaves the same way. If you want to run Till Note on both platforms and this affects you, write to us and we'll see what we can do.
v1 is phone-first. The app runs on iPad in scaled mode (and on Android tablets), but the layouts aren't optimised for the larger screen. A proper tablet redesign is on the roadmap for v2.
English (UK), Arabic, and Turkish at launch. The app switches between them in Settings > Language. Arabic interface is right-to-left throughout. More languages on request — email us with your local market and we'll prioritise.
CSV import is on the roadmap but not in v1. For now, you'd start fresh in Till Note from a chosen date (the start of your financial year, usually) and run both systems in parallel for one period before switching over fully.
A single PDF containing the period summary, every day's day-book, all invoices issued, payslips run, and indexed receipts. Most accountants can work directly from the PDF; if they need a CSV of the line items, that's a one-tap export inside the same pack.
The Accountant Pack is designed to give your accountant everything they need to file. They use it as the source data and submit through their own software. For Making Tax Digital VAT in the UK, your accountant remains the link to HMRC — Till Note is the source of truth.
Yes — pick a custom date range, or use the shortcuts: This Month, Last Month, This Quarter, Last Quarter, This Year. The pack pulls everything for that range and only that range.

Nothing. Till Note has no servers, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting back to us. The app doesn't make network calls during normal operation. We don't know when you installed the app, when you opened it, or what you do inside it.
The only data the App Store shares with us, automatically and in aggregate, is:
We do not see your name, email, device ID, or any individual user information from the App Store. Apple/Google do not give it to us, and we don't ask for it.
Everything you enter in Till Note is stored locally on your device, in the application's sandboxed storage area isolated by iOS or Android. This includes:
We never see any of it. Only you and anyone you give your phone PIN to can access this data.
A few actions cause data to leave the app, all initiated by you:
support@tillnote.com, the email service we use can see the email content. We treat support emails as confidential and delete them after the issue is resolved.Till Note uses store payment services (Apple's App Store and Google Play) and RevenueCat to manage purchase status, subscription entitlement and restore purchases. This lets the app tell whether your 14-day trial is active, whether your subscription is still valid, or whether you own the Lifetime purchase — without us having to see your payment details.
When you buy or restore a purchase, an anonymised store-issued receipt is sent to RevenueCat, which returns your current entitlement status to the app. RevenueCat may hold this receipt and derived subscription-status data to keep entitlement accurate over time. Till Note does not receive your full card details — Apple and Google handle payment; we only see whether an entitlement is active. For details on how RevenueCat processes this data, see RevenueCat's own privacy policy.
This website uses no analytics, no tracking scripts, no cookies beyond what the static hosting provider may set for caching. We don't know how many people visit this page, what country they're in, or what they read.
Till Note is intended for use by adults running a business. The app is not directed at children under 13 and we have no reason to believe children use it.
If we ever start collecting anything — which we don't currently plan to — we will update this policy and post the change at the top of this page with a new effective date. We will not collect any personal data without your explicit opt-in.
You have the right to access, correct, export and delete personal data we hold about you. Since we hold nothing about you, there is nothing for us to provide, correct or delete. To export your data from the app, use the Backup & Restore feature. To delete it, uninstall the app from your device.

Download Till Note, set your PIN, pick your shop and currency — and you're ready. No account, no cloud sign-up, no setup wizard to sit through.
Open the till, record cash & card sales and expenses through the day, and close it. The day's balance and Z-report build themselves as you go.
Settings → Backup & Restore → Create backup. Till Note bundles everything into one .json file you save wherever you like — iCloud Drive, Google Drive or a USB stick. Set a backup password and the file is sealed with strong AES-256 encryption.
Open your .json backup file, check the preview of what's inside, then enter your backup password if you set one — everything returns exactly as it was.
Pick a period and Till Note bundles every receipt, invoice, day-book and payslip into one categorised PDF, ready to email your accountant.
Snap receipts and import PDFs; Till Note sorts them into folders and links each to the matching day or invoice, so the proof sits beside the number.
Set a recovery key when you create your PIN. If you ever forget the PIN, the recovery key unlocks the app — so you never lose access to your books.
